The authors of this site are Jason Broekhuizen and Dominic Byrne.

We are two parents with children that were refused NHS funding for sequential bilateral CI operations but self-funded the operation ourselves.

We believe there is merit in developing a website where parents and others can go for information about bilateral implantation. We found that we had to scour the internet, medical journals etc for information about bilateral CIs and, also, find out about the experience of families with children who already had bilateral CIs. We believe it would be very useful to bring this together in one place as well as provide a spur to NHS funding.

We aim to make the website an authoritative and independent source of information about binaural hearing, bilateral CIs and NHS funding. It is a purely voluntary initiative on our part. We receive no funding and have no links with cochlear implant manufacturers or other sponsors. Our sole interest is the best interest of our children and other children who can benefit from CIs.
